Always add that jab
This week's featured combo, the 1-2-3-2-Double Jab, will not only add some serious firepower to your arsenal but also teach you a valuable life lesson about perseverance.
Let's break it down:
1-2: Your trusty jab-straight back hand. Remember, full extension on those punches! (about 90-95% extension, still leaving a slight bend in elbow to avoid hyper extension)
3-2: Now we're adding a front hook followed by another straight. Sometimes this is tricky, depending on how long you can extend your hook. Some people's front hook cannot extend as far as their jab and straight back hand. If your hook doesn't quite reach, try a slight step in with your straight back hand or right after breaking up the combination with a step. Key point: Rotate into your hook, don't swing!
Double Jab: The perfect finishing touch. Keeps your opponent distracted, sets up your next attack, and demonstrates your relentless spirit.
Life Lessons from the Ring:
Ever felt frustrated when a skill you're good at suddenly becomes challenging when you add something new? Just like trying to land that hook from too far away, sometimes all it takes is an extra step to make it work. Don't give up! Adjust, adapt, and keep pushing forward.
And once you've nailed that extra step? Don't forget to follow through with those double jabs. That extra effort at the end, that "cherry on top," can make all the difference in achieving your goals.
Keep training hard and remember:
Practice this combo on the heavy bag or in the air.
Focus on proper form and technique.
Never underestimate the power of perseverance.
See you in the gym!
